At Kates Kloths we offer a unique range of hand dyed variegated threads. We aim to inspire and excite embroiderers of all abilities, and supply embroiderers with a wide range of hand dyed variegated threads.

The threads we dye consist of many different fibres and thickness' including cotton, rayon and silk; each giving a unique quality to any piece of work.

Kate started this business to meet the demands of her Creative Embroidery students. It is relatively easy to purchase a standard commercially dyed thread but space dyed yarns with subtly blended colours are more difficult to obtain.

All of our threads are hand dyed and as yarn specifications tend to vary slightly from time to time it is recommended that threads for one project are purchased in one order. Please note thatexact colours are not always repeatable. In the event of 'running out' at any time we can supply you with a close match, dyed from a sample.

The threads may be used for many types of embroidery including cross-stitch, freestyle embroidery, hardanger, canvas work and any other form of experimental embroidery. We have successfully used the threads for whip stitch and cable stitch with machine embroidery.

In 2002 Kates Kloths expanded and moved to new office, shop and workshop premises in Blyth, Northumberland. Here we are able to offer an even better range of materials and workshops to suit all needs, so if you're in the area, we'd love to see you.
